When you do not care for your mower properly there could be a world of issues, and you may spend a lot of time and money on repairs. Think of it this way, most maintenance tasks will take less than an hour and significantly prolong the life of your Bad Boy.

Here are some maintenance tips to help you properly care for your mower at home.

Change Oil

Changing the oil in your Bad Boy mower will ensure it performs efficiently. You will want to keep a good record of when you change the oil and when it is due to be changed again. It will help prevent costly repairs, as well as prolong the engine life. You will want to refer to your mowers manual to ensure you use the correct engine oil and filter.

Air Filter

The air filter is an important part of your mower. You will want to make sure that this filter stays clean and does not cause any obstruction to airflow.  If the filter looks dirty then it is time to change it. Refer to your manual to see if you have a paper or foam air filter.

Paper filters will have to be replaced. Foam filters can be removed and washed with warm soapy water. You will want to let them air dry thoroughly before reinstalling on your mower. It is recommended that you check the air filter a few times each season, especially if you are using your mower a lot.

Fuel

Many of us get a gas can full of fuel and it lasts for several mows. It is important to remember that gas can go stale in as little as 30 days. You can add a fuel stabilizer and treatment to help keep your gas fresh and protect your mower’s engine.

Blades

Keep an eye on your blades, as they can go dull quickly. This will cause the mower to cut unevenly and shred the tips of the grass. This can then turn the grass brown and leave your lawn not looking its best. For best practice, brush off the blades after each use to keep debris down.

Spark Plugs

To keep your mower running efficiently, it is a good idea to change your spark plug when you change the oil. This can be done annually.
